She completed a general internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City in 1997 followed by a surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Texas. Dr. Snakard firmly believes that time is precious and so is her family. Therefore, the majority of her time outside of work is spent with family. They explore museums, attend various live performances and lose themselves in the world of children’s literature. In her “spare” time, she leaves her cellular phone at home and runs through local parks or simply her neighborhood. In this world of accessibility, leaving her cellular phone at home is therapeutic.

Just a few of the surgeries she performs include:
  • TPLO: Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy
  • FHO: Femoral Head Osteotomy
  • MPL: Medial Patella Luxation
  • TECA: Total Ear Canal Ablation

Referral Coordinator

Alicia joined the team in 2017 as a member of the Veterinary Reception team. Soon after, Alicia joined the Veterinary Assistant and Surgery Assistant Teams. Alicia is currently a Referral Coordinator who works directly with Dr. Snakard and Dr. Homco. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Veterinary Surgical Technicians

Your pet’s assigned surgery technician will care for your pet on the day of their procedure. The Technician will prepare your pet for surgery by placing an IV catheter to administer anesthetic and pain medication. During surgery, the Technician will monitor your pet’s heart rate, blood oxygen levels, blood pressure, heart function, and temperature. Once the procedure is complete, your pet’s assigned technician will monitor them after surgery in our intensive care unit. They will administer further pain relief if needed, ensure that your pet is able to eat, drink, and go to the bathroom on their own before returning home.

Veterinary Surgical Assistants

Surgical Assistants are trained to work side by side with our Surgeons and Licensed Veterinary Technicians. Our Surgery Assistants aide in facilitating many aspects of your pet’s procedure. Just a few of their duties include: preparing surgical instruments, collecting data and information for the Surgeon, assisting Technicians during your pet’s procedure, and accommodating the needs of the surgical department as they arise.
