Over 100 Years
Of Pioneering Care
Our team has built some of the highest quality veterinary hospitals in the world. But while the level of medicine practiced is truly unparalleled, we believe there is another level we can get to. A level that creates truly special possibilities for you and your pet.
We are so proud of our roots. This is a family business. Grandfathers, grandmothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters being a veterinarian isn't just what we do. It's in our blood. Now, discover the story of how we got here today.
A Garage and an Idea
Stack Veterinary Hospital was started by Dr. Daniel Stack's grandfather in 1910. He worked out of his garage and had a small surgical suite, exam room, and waiting area. He mostly took care of the community's horses and cows, believing that this town deserved nothing but the best.
$1000 and Audacity
In the 1950s, Dr. Daniel Stack's father and grandfather each chipped in $500 to build a practice on the outskirts of Syracuse. Everyone thought they were crazy, and that no one would drive that far to see a veterinarian. When it was built, it was one of the most advanced hospitals in all of upstate New York. Stack earned AAHA accreditation in 1957, becoming one of the first hospitals in the nation to do so.

The Pioneer Legacy
Dr. Daniel Stack purchased Stack Veterinary Hospital from his father in 1993. He brought on a board-certified surgeon, one of the first in the area. Dr. Stack also began to bring in a board-certified radiologist once a week, and began attracting top talent from all over the state of New York.
The team at Stack cherishes the role of being pioneers in the region, and having other hospitals look to us to chart a course for the future. Because we believe in creating a better world for animals and animal lovers. Just like Dr. Daniel Stack's grandfather did over 100 years ago.
