A Simple Standard
Being an accredited animal hospital sets us apart from the roughly 85% of animal hospitals in North America that are not accredited. Accreditation is purely voluntary and demonstrates a practice’s dedication to reaching its full potential to give pets and their families the highest level of care possible.
The American Animal Hospital Association was established in 1933 to assist animal hospitals with that very goal. Today, about 15% of all animal hospitals in the United States and Canada are AAHA-accredited, holding themselves to ever higher standards and looking to the latest innovations in veterinary medicine to continue improving their practice.
Excellence in Everything We Do
There are approximately 900 different standards that an AAHA-accredited practice needs to meet or exceed to keep its accreditation. These standards cover virtually every category of veterinary medicine, including:
- Customer service
- Client care
- Surgery safety
- Pain management
- Hospital cleanliness
- Medication storage
- Record keeping
- Client education
- Client-doctor communication, including follow-up care
Every three years, our hospital is evaluated and inspected by AAHA experts. Their job is to make sure that we are faithfully adhering to every standard set forth by the organization. Once we pass the evaluation, our accreditation is renewed for another three years. Since 1957, Stack Veterinary Hospital has unfailingly met these standards and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
