A Better Way Ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that, through the use of sound waves, yields detailed images of your pet's internal organs. It is very effective for examining the heart and abdominal areas. We utilize ultrasound to confirm findings on physical exams or radiographs. Dr. Homco, a board-certified radiologist, visits Stack Veterinary Hospital on Wednesdays to perform ultrasounds and interpret radiographs. Along with our established patients, we also welcome referral patients from established hospitals!

FAQ

Patients are not sedated during ultrasounds. However, in very rare cases sedation can be recommended by your pet’s regular Veterinarian.
Patients who will be receiving an abdominal ultrasound are asked to fast prior to their appointment. If a patient has food in their stomach it makes it extremely difficult for the ultrasound to penetrate to the organs to be studied.
If your pet is coming in for an abdominal ultrasound, you will be asked to bring your pet to their appointment with a full bladder. This allows the Radiologist to perform a thorough ultrasound.
