The original Stack Veterinary practice was started in Syracuse by Dr. John Stack who graduated from Cornell University, College of Veterinary medicine in 1910. The practice was originally conducted from the Stack residence on Bellevue Avenue. Dr. John Stack contributed to the history of the city of Syracuse by caring for the police and fire department horses, along with the Erie Canal mules, which were also prevalent at the the time.

Dr. Robert Stack joined his father in the practice in 1950. After serving three years in World War II, Dr. Robert Stack returned to the area and graduated from Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine. It was at this time that the Stack Veterinary Hospital at 5092 Velasko Road was built. It was the first modern veterinary hospital in the Syracuse area. Dr. Robert Stack continued the tradition of providing high quality care while maintaining a close, personal relationship with his clients. While continuing to upgrade the facilities to coincide with advances in veterinary medicine, he never lost the sight of the dedication and compassion that his father, Dr. John Stack, gave to the west side of Syracuse.

In 1976, Dr. Michael Stack graduated from Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine and took over the large animal aspect of Stack Veterinary Hospital, devoting most of his time to the dairy industry of Central New York. Dr. Michael Stack continues the fine tradition of quality care that Dr. John Stack started back in 1910.

The newest Stack addition is Dr. Daniel Stack who always dreamt of following in his grandfather's, father's, and brother's footsteps. Dr. Daniel Stack joined the practice in 1988 after graduating from North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.
