FAQ

Patients are not sedated during ultrasounds. However, in very rare cases sedation can be recommended by your pet’s regular Veterinarian.
Patients who will be receiving an abdominal ultrasound are asked to fast prior to their appointment. If a patient has food in their stomach it makes it extremely difficult for the ultrasound to penetrate to the organs to be studied.
If your pet is coming in for an abdominal ultrasound, you will be asked to bring your pet to their appointment with a full bladder. This allows the Radiologist to perform a thorough ultrasound.
