Meet Megan Weaver: How did I get up here?
Born and raised in Vienna, Virginia, I made the trek up to Syracuse in 2001 to attend Le Moyne College. I graduated in 2005 with my Bachelors in Biology with minors in both Psychology and Chemistry. I knew I wanted to work with animals after I got a job at a small vet clinic in Fairfax, Virginia. After working there for a year, I looked into specialty vet practices and found myself working in the Regional Veterinary Referral Center as a Neurology Nurse for Dr. Deena Tiches DVM, DACVIM (Neurology). When she moved the practice, I was offered a job in the specialized veterinary surgical practice. It was then that I decided to start taking classes to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I learned so much from the three Board Certified Surgeons that I worked under for three and a half years. After falling for a handsome Central New Yorker and marrying him in 2008, we moved up to Syracuse in 2010 where I finished my courses and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I started working at Stack Veterinary Hospital and Referral Center. I realized how much rehabilitation had helped the neurologic and surgical patients in Virginia, so I took a rigorous series of courses at the University of Tennessee. A year and a half later, I became licensed as a CCRP- (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner.) Oh, and during that year and a half, I had my first child, Cora, and she is the most amazing person in the world! So here we are. I live with two extremely high energy dogs, Rooney and Einstein, four extremely low energy cats Telly, Mouse, Bella, and Oscar, a wonderful husband and a crazy toddler. Welcome to my crazy life and I wouldn’t change a thing!
