Hildi 8/15/2001 - 6/23/2017
Today is a sad day. Another small light has gone out of the world. Miss Hildi is gone. We took her to the vet today to have her put to sleep, so she is officially across the Rainbow Bridge now. She was 15 years, 10 months and 8 days old. Miss Hildi was a real rapscallion when she was a puppy. Her official total was 6 rugs destroyed, one futon cushion chewed to uselessness and a second one seriously mauled, one futon arm nearly turned into sawdust, two kitchen chair legs gnawed profusely and a bank check for over $8,000 ripped and chewed to shreds. That doesn't include innumerable toys, puppy beds, blankets, newspapers and other minor acts of puppy abandon and destruction.
Towards the end, she couldn't see well or hear well (except when daddy opened the Magic Food Cupboard door) and hasn't been able to walk for a couple of months now. She had become frail and weak but had a healthy appetite right up until the end. We wanted her to pass at home but, since our criteria was we didn't want her suffering, we decided today was the day. She was developing horrendous open sores the last couple of days and that was the signal for her final trip to see her life-long friends at Stack Veterinary Hospital who have cared for her since she was a little puppy.
Miss Hildi turned into a daddy's girl the last few years, constantly coming to me for love and scrithces and jumping up on my lap so she could slobber me with puppy kisses. When she got too weak to jump, she would ask to be picked up so she could fall asleep on my lap. She was always the Queen of the house, keeping her brother and sister in line and tussling with them. An excellent watch dog, she guarded us faithfully and kept us safe. Not a single bird, squirrel, leaf or stray gust of wind ever got through her to cause us harm.
Last year, our elderly next-door neighbor, Florence, fell in her doorway and was seriously injured. She couldn't get up and we couldn't see her where she fell. Miss Hildi went outside and started barking furiously to let us know there was a problem. We went outside to see what she was alerting us to and rushed to help and call an ambulance. Up until the day she passed away, Florence credits Miss Hildi with saving her life.
Occasionally exasperating but always faithful, watchful, loving and funny, she gave us her unconditional love and trust her whole life. Goodbye, little girl. You will be missed and will always be in our hearts. ~Arne and Chris Sandness~
Nala 1/3/2003 - 4/25/2015
My family & I adopted Nala from a local shelter in April 2003. She joined her big brother Remy who at first was not to thrilled to share his home with a new furry sister but over time, they we're joined at the hip. Nala was a companion to all that met her. We're grateful that she walked into our lives and it still hard to believe that she is not here with us. We take comfort that she is with her Big Brother Remy and someday we'll see them both. We Love you Nala-Pop. ~Diane Carlton-Brown & Jennifer Miller~
Lucy 1/16/2001 - 3/25/2015
The pain we went through and still feeling by losing her is worth it to have had her in our lives for fourteen years. We are still heartbroken, but we will remember mostly not how she died, but how she lived. ~Tomkos Family~
Remy 10/13/2001 - 1/27/2015
On January 27th a member of our family left us too soon. Remy has been a spirited member of our family. Spirited is the best term that I could think of when it comes to Remy. Remy was a wonderful, loving dog whom enjoyed meeting new people and other 4 legged children such as himself. He always knew what look to give you to turn you into a puddle of mush when it came to requesting a treat. He would greet you in the morning with a cold, wet nose in the eye or the way he would barge his way into the bathroom(whether you were presentable or not). Remy meant so much to us and as you know it’s extremely difficult to say goodbye to a member of your pack. We take comfort in the that he has provided so much to so many. He was well loved and he provided us with a lifetime of love as well . ~The Miller and Carlton-Brown Families~
Louis Vuitton 12/8/2004 - 1/7/2015
Louis was a special member of our family. He loved to have people visit and would be upset when they left. All of the members of the Stack team were wonderful supports through his entire life especially at the end. I would recommend them for any pet.
Luigi 5/23/2002 - 12/30/2013
You were loved more than you know and we miss you dearly. We still laugh when we think of all the trouble you would get yourself into. You made an impression on everyone you met and we thank you for being a great friend and companion. Love you Weeg. ~The Zeckzer Family~
Nemo 11/18/2003 - 12/23/2013
Inside my heart lies a fluffy white soul named Nemo that has forever changed my life in the most astounding way. Nemo became a part of our family at 8 weeks of age and gave me the best 10 years of my life. He had the most beautiful personality in that he appreciated everything from the smallest dandelion on the sidewalk that he would stop and stiff on our daily walks to playing with his beloved rubber chicken toy every night and waking up in his pajamas on Christmas morning to find a mountain of gifts just for him. Nemo and I did everything together. He was a big fan of going to Heids for some french fries and vanilla ice cream, dressing up in his many outfits, taking road trips to nowhere in particular, and he would even go to our church and get blessed every year for good health. I think he especially loved to relax at the park on Sunday afternoons just before heading home to a big family dinner. Everything Nemo did was amazing, but perhaps the most amazing thing that he did was teach me valuable life lessons that I believe no other human could. He also is responsible for steering me into making a career in the animal healthcare field and loving my job here at Stack Veterinary Hospital. He gives me the strength to care for every animal in the best way that I can. Because of Nemo I am lucky enough to know what unconditional love feels like and while he may not physically be here on earth anymore I know he is always with me in spirit and someone like that can never be replaced. I love you forever and ever and always! ~Love, Lacey~
